Choose replacement bulbs or a complete light set

If you already own suitable E17 socket wire, choose a box of replacement bulbs and match the bulb count to the sockets you need to fill. If you need both bulbs and wire, choose a set that explicitly includes both. An empty stringer supplies sockets and wire; its bulbs are a separate purchase.

A package count is not a length measurement. One box of 25 bulbs fills 25 compatible sockets; four boxes supply 100 bulbs. Check the stringer's socket count, spacing, lead and total length separately when planning your display.

• Bulbs only: the C9 Opaque Multicolor OptiCore 25-pack (WG-62139) contains 25 LED bulbs with E17 bases. The compatible stringer is sold separately.
• Bulbs and wire: the C9 Red / Warm White OptiCore 50-light set (WG-63714) includes bulbs and a 50-foot white-wire string with 12-inch bulb spacing. Twist the bulbs into the sockets before use.
• Before ordering, confirm the selected pack size, light color, wire color and included components. A picture of a lit string does not by itself establish what is in the package.

Why C9 lights create the professional look

C9 bulbs are large enough to remain visually distinct from the street. When spacing is consistent, each bulb reads as part of a deliberate line instead of a soft band of light. That makes C9 especially effective on front eaves, gables, dormers, peaks, ridges, and other architectural edges.

For TX Merry Lights installations, C9 is the most common starting point for a polished residential roofline. Smaller formats still have useful roles, but C9 provides the scale most homeowners mean when they ask for the professional Christmas-light look.

Build the system in the right order

A roofline is a system, not only a bulb purchase. Begin with the selected roof sections and their measured linear footage. Choose the socket spacing, then the C9 stringer, bulb color and finish, mounting clips, lead wire, power plan, and timer. Every component must be rated for its intended application and kept within the manufacturer’s electrical limits.

Our catalog lists socket type and spacing on the product page. For the C9 products featured below, look for an intermediate E17 socket. Do not force a bulb into a different base, and do not assume that products with similar photographs share the same socket size.

• Control: outdoor-rated power and timer components where required

Choose spacing for the architecture

Twelve-inch spacing is a practical residential baseline because each linear foot corresponds to approximately one socket. It produces a clean, readable rhythm without requiring a separate conversion during the first material estimate. Wider spacing can suit very large architecture or a more open look, while closer spacing increases bulb count and visual density.

Spacing should remain consistent across connected lines. Changing from 12 inches on an eave to 15 or 18 inches on a nearby peak is noticeable after dark. If two sections meet visually, plan them as one system.

Faceted, smooth, warm white, or color

Faceted lenses break the light into multiple highlights and are a familiar roofline choice. Smooth or opaque finishes create a different, more solid appearance. Neither is universally better; the important decision is to keep the finish consistent across the same visible run.

Warm white complements brick, stone, warm landscape lighting, and traditional greenery. Cool white reads crisper and icier against modern finishes or blue-and-white displays. White shades vary between product families, so use the same model when a continuous roofline must match exactly.
